Every January since 2004 a surgery team sponsored by the Rotary Club of Westlake Village Sunrise (including surgeon Michael Zapf,  ventures to Honduras to correct club feet. The surgeons all volunteered their week of time and their air fare. Nevertheless this trip still cost $24,000 in supplies and equipment. Usually 30 to 35 kids have one or both feet corrected. That translates into $800 per child (the cost in the U.S would be about $30,000 per surgery!). If the raffle ticket has 40% overhead (to pay for the car) we need to sell 13 tickets per child (or 10 tickets per foot!) to pay for these surgeries and to allow us to continue sponsoring these trips in the future.
